Join us at playgroup - everyone is welcome!
Our supported playgroups continue to offer a welcoming and inclusive space for families and their children (up to school age). Our playgroups provided excellent developmental/learning opportunities for babies and children, social connections for parents and carers, along with additional support when required.
Gateway delivers four supported playgroups within the Blue Mountains and Penrith LGA, with locations at Penrith, Blaxland, Winmalee and Katoomba. Our supported playgroups are all run in partnership with Connect Children and Families.
Support for children and their parents
All of our playgroups are run in public schools, providing a safe and accessible environment, along with a school setting experience for children. We partner with Connect Child and Family services for all playgroups. All of our facilitators are highly experienced with training in at least one of the following areas (early childhood, counselling and case management).
Our facilitators adopt a welcoming and family centered approach, encouraging participation and connection. A range of indoor/outdoor, age-appropriate, and inclusive activities are provided to support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Individual family needs are assessed and responded to by providing resources and facilitating referrals.
Playgroup has assisted my children through imaginative play, fine motor crafts, songs and stories. The activities are well-paced and well-planned for 0-5's.
Free of charge and open to everyone
Our playgroups are run free of charge and are open to all families. This universal service approach recognises that all families benefit from support and connection during the early years and some families will need more intensive and targeted support.
